Description: Matthew Marks Gallery is presenting Jasper Johns: Drawings 1982–2021, an exhibition showcasing 21 works on paper by the iconic artist. Spanning four decades of Johns' career, the exhibition highlights his signature use of recurring motifs, drawn from a rich personal lexicon of symbols and imagery. These include autobiographical elements, the American flag, and patterns like the harlequin print, alongside references to influential artists such as Picasso and John Cage. Many of the featured drawings, created in various media, are being publicly displayed for the first time. A fully illustrated catalogue with a new essay by Hilton Als will accompany the exhibition.
