Invasion Book 6, Hong Kong is a ceramic artwork produced by the ground-breaking French street artist Invader in 2015. Coming in an edition size of 50, Invader has published a book with a micro-mosaic tile cover and kept in a plexiglas box. The cover is dominated by red mosaic tiles and a golden alien with piercing black eyes is rendered zooming down the cover, shooting the other aliens beneath it. This work is part of Invader's Guides collection.
The book was published by Invader to be read alongside his impressive installation art project, the Space Invaders project, which the artist started in 1998. Inspired by the Japanese arcade game, Space Invaders, Invader wanted to carry out his own alien invasions and decided to travel to various cities all over the world and install mosaic aliens onto the walls of the cities he visited. Invader aims to adorn the streets with around 20 to 50 mosaics and the installation process is always done at night so the artist can preserve his anonymity and avoid being caught by the police (many of these installations are illegal).
Invasion Book 6, Hong Kong provides detailed information regarding where the alien mosaics Invader installed in Hong Kong can be found, along with the time and dates of when he made them.
